The party pig is a good choice if you can not afford a full kegging setup. So long as the pressure (CO2) stays on the beer, and no oxygen gets in there, you should be good for at least a few months. As small as they are, you will probably run out of brew before the brew goes bad.

I have some bottles of beer which the sell-by dates are over a year ago.
They are more fizzy on opening but still drinkable!

i dont think they ever do go off

they just put best before because they taste best before that date

All depends on the beer. Most American Lagers will only last about 3 months. Premium beers can last decades. I have a bottle of Thomas Hardy's ale that is 15 years old and it rated to last up to 25. Recently I have a sampling of several 2 year old Bell's products. But if you are purchasing something like a Budweiser or Miller product... 3 months before it turns. After the 3 months you will lose flavor and carbonation, but it will still be drinkable. Given enough time I've seen the contents of a PBR can turn into brown/black sludge.

"We're not talking about your average beer with a mere shelf life of 3-6 months, tops -- before quality begins to degrade. We're talking about beers that beg for maturation and strict storage like vintage beers, barleywines, imperial stouts, Belgian strong ales, lambics, old ales and so on. Ideally, any type of beer that can be laid-down for a year or two, or even more, in order to build a slew of complexities and thus further its character in a positive way. "

Because they have sugar in them and they are air tight they can last 50 odd years - though they may not taste so good...

usually they say freshness is best under 120 days
