The laws of the country you are in apply. US law does not apply anywhere but in the US.

For example, marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms are legal in the Netherlands. A US citizen may partake in these things while in the Netherlands. But if you try to buy some pot and bring it back to the US with you, you'll get in a lot of trouble with the customs agents at the airport.

In the US, someone from a country where the legal drinking age is 18 would not be able to drink in the US unless they were 21. This causes endless frustration for 19 and 20 year old exchange students to the US.

So you can drink where the drinking age is less, but you can't buy beer and bring it back.

if you go to uk, where its 18, you can drink legally at 18, you are bound by the laws of the country you are in.

haha, so whenever u wanna drink and ur under 21 go to the uk! :P

It is true that when in any country you are bound by that country's laws. So, as an Irishman, where the drinking age is 18, I would still have to be 21 to drink in the US. That's why I've never been there!

In Canada it's 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, 19 in the other provinces. I believe it's 18 in Mexico, too.

yes you would be able to buy beer outside of the US.
Likewise, if you're 19 and originally from Russia, you would not be able to buy beer in the USA. Many of my friends who came from Russia and were used to buying beer for themselves couldn't buy beer anymore for another year or two. So yeah, go abroad and party. LOL.

You follow the laws of the country you are in, not the one you come from. I live by the canadian border and I remember when me and my friends all turned 18 we would go to the bars up north. Nobody had a problem with it including the border guards, unless you were drinking and driving (which is just dumb).
