Red wine suggestions? Between $12-18?!

Question: I need a few suggestions for a GOOD red wine between $12-18 dollars. This is going to be a gift for someone who regularly drinks red wine. I think one of her favorites is Kendall Jackson??

Safe bet would be to go with Kendall Jackson.

Chalone makes a good Pinot Noir, BV Coastal Estate is cheap (around $10.00) but I think it tastes good. Many wine stores have specials and you can try before you buy!

Edit:
Yellow Tail is known as being cheap and is the worst wine I have ever tasted!

yellow tail is a good cheap wine.

Any red wine from Argentina or Chille will be a success.

thats a good one.

Clos Du Bois used to be good but I haven't tried one of their reds for a while. I would go with a pinot noir. It's the hottest wine right now. If nothing else, find one with a great label and if the wine sucks, the label amused them!

My parents really like Vendage, and its only about 9 dollars.

yelllow tail

I really like Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvigon.

There are so many different flavors of red wine. How dry? How heavy the tannins? How complex? etc.?

I would suggest a Pinot Noir. It goes with a lot of different types of food, is dry, soft tannins, etc. It is very drinkable.

Ask your wine merchant for a brand recommendation of a good California Pinot Noir.

.

To be safe, stick with a pinot noir.

I love Robert Mondavi Private Selection Merlot. This vinter makes much more expensive wine but I can't afford it. I give bottles to my aunt and uncles every Christmas and serve it at a lot of parties. Priced between $10 - $15.
"Merlot
Our Robert Mondavi Private Selection Merlot is made with grapes predominantly from California's Monterey County appellation. There, the vineyards enjoy a nightly blanket of cool Pacific Ocean fog, excellent soils and a long growing season. This ideal combination brings vibrant flavors and silky tannins to our Merlot including luscious layers of berry, plum and spice with light oak nuances from barrel-aging."

I like Ten Mile, this wine singlehandedly brought me back to domestic wines in this price range.

Wine gets me every time..
I avoid most.

If you know Kendall Jackson is the wine of choice, why not give a bottle of Kendall Jackson.
Kendall Jackson has different grades from $14 a bottle to $95 per bottle.

Frei Bros Alexander Valley Cab Sauv.

About $18

Concha y Toro Casillero Del Diablo Merlot 2005
Ravenswood Shiraz Vintner's Blend 2004

Also, pretty much any French merlot or Bordeaux that you pay $18 for will be good.
