I know I drink too much wine...how to stop...without withdrewl symptoms?!

Question: I don't feel alcholholic, just that I need to block out my pain!

Answers: I don't feel alcholholic, just that I need to block out my pain!

You will feel withdrawal regardless. Just slow down over a period of a week to only one glass per day then none from then on. Remove all alcohol from the house you live in and do not go to any pubs or resturants for at least a month. Take-up a exercise, fitness regime or sport to fill the gap.

How much are you drinking and why? First thing you need to do is confront why you are drink to much. Once you have done this you will be less likely to go back to the alcohol as a crutch. After that it would all depend on how much and for how long you've been drinking as to the withdrawal.

Try and scale it down bit by bit (or drop by drop).
It obviously worries you for you to ask the question.
Maybe see your GP for temporary help to block out the pain, but don't swap one 'prop' for another (permanently I mean).
Try eating a meal first, it always puts me off wine if I do that.
Good Luck

Pain from what? Alcohol or meds can become addictive especially if used to cut out physical or mental pain.
I suggest you finding a doc, even a holistic doc, to help you resolve this pain.

Start by mixing your wine with either ginger ale, Sprite, or 7-Up. Try it half and half at first and then work it backward to little or no alcohol. Use lots of ice and you probably won't even notice the difference. Good luck!

Blocking out pain with alcohol just pushes it down further until one day you explode like a pressure cooker or have a breakdown or become an alcoholic if you aren't already. Sorry to be a bit harsh but thats the reality, I know Ive been there. xx
