The answer is yes and no. Yes salt is a known chemical for helping the body retain water hence "salt peter tablets" given to the troops while going through heavy exercises (1962). Today I think they rely on Gatorade. On some people its does not work. Salt in beer is like adding salt to tequila -- taste and to cut the bitter taste of Tecate, Pearl, Falstaff and other "real beers" instead of those watered down Light, Ultra Light, Mega Light, Smooth and yada, yada. If God wanted you to have salt with beer don't you think he would have made the hops salty?

No. Salt actually hydrates and is a perfect "antidote" for alcholol.

I've been told to drink a little bit of salt when drinking to help retain the water so you don't get dehydrated as fast.. so it may work... make sure and drink a glass of water inbetween drinks if you can to keep yourself hydrated otherwise!
