Answers:
It's not the calories itself in alcohol that makes you fat, but the effect that alcohol has on your body.

"According to conventional wisdom, the infamous "beer belly" is caused by excess alcohol calories being stored as fat. Yet, less than five percent of the alcohol calories you drink are turned into fat. Rather, the main effect of alcohol is to reduce the amount of fat your body burns for energy."

if you drink enough,,
both have calories

Beer has lots of carbohydrates. And carbohydrates turn into fat if you don't burn them off. Wine not as many carbs.

Beer has lots of calories and lots of carbs. Wine has less. People also usually drink less wine than beer. You hacve heard the term, beer belly, yes?

as alcohol is processed in the liver and blood, waste products called acetate and acetaldehyde are formed. These products tell your body to stop burning fat. As that occurs your body starts making fat from another waste products in alcohol . Your body is only capable of processing so much alcohol in an hour. So the longer you drink, the longer your body is inhibited from burning fat.

All alcohols have a lot of empty calories. Wine does have the benefit of being a little heart healthy, but it's mostly all empty calories.
