Absinthe consumption isn't regulated in the States, so you can legally buy and drink it at any age. In Canada, I believe it is regulated by Province (drinking age), and you can even buy it in liquor stores.

But, assuming you're in the States... Absinthe is illegal to sell in bars and liquor stores, and the shipment of it is highly regulated to only moderate amounts at best (ie: you can order 1 bottle, but you may have toruble ordering 10)... however, it's 100% legal to buy at ANY age (ie: in the US, a 10 year old could legally buy AND drink absinthe just as they could orange juice). A weird legal loophole, maybe, but... meh.

Certain specialty markets have it, and various "odd" markets will carry it, but it can be very difficult to find in most places. Your best bet is ordering it online. It's very expensive, though. Cheap bottles have very little thujone and are basically glorified mouthwash. A good bottle of it will cost you a bare minimum of $70 for even a small bottle... A decent sized bottled of good quality will cost $100+.

Links on where to buy it and a rundown of the law are in the sources section...

legally, no; even if you were 21. (I am assuming you are here in the States)

what is it?

I think you can order it online because apparently its illegal (due to "psychedelic" effects)

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder...
