Poll...I love a good wine, but I am not good at choosing one?!

Question: I read the bottles, and it always sounds good, but the only time I really enjoy my wine is when I go out and have a expert choose it for me, I like a semi-dry wine, red, with a smooth taste, can anyone name me a good wine to buy?

The only wine I really like is Red Zinfandel. I think is a sort of sweet rather than dry, but you might want to try it some time.

Thanks for the BA! Report It

  • Try a pinot noir or shiraz.

    Cakebread Cellars Merlot

Go for a pint noir. They are light bodied, and not sweet.

you could try a reisling as well --we like schmitt shone

Pisse-Dru Beaujolais from France. Very smooth (my preference as well) and even better slightly chilled!

Don't limit yourself to one variety of wine. How would you like to have fried chicken for dinner every night? It's good, but eventually, you're going to want something else.

Do you have a Costco in your town? They have a good selection of wines, and usually state the wine's points on the Wine Spectator magazine scale. Choose the highest points in your price category. You can get a really good bottle of wine there for under $10.

Consumer Reports Magazine also prints articles rating less expensive wines. These are chosen by regular people, not oenophiles.

here are two of my favorites.
    - ST.FRANCIS _ Cabernet Sauvignon
    - ROBERT MONDAVI _ Cabernet Sauvignon
both are a dry red and pretty reasonable on price. hope you enjoy

Most areas I've lived in have wine specialty shops. If you go there with your criteria, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

    A few of my faves...
    Ravenswood Zinfandel
    Rosemount Shiraz
    Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir
