How does one enjoy port?!

Question: Is it an after work drink? With an assortment of cheese? During dinner? After dinner with a crumpet?

I have bottles of port stacked in my arsenal and I wish to enjoy them like a true port-drinking professional.

There are several ways. Mostly it's an after dinner drink, some say with a blue cheese, chocolate (anything), almonds (if drinking a tawny) or my fav way, alone (or with cigar).
Now, if you have a tawny serve room temp, to slightly chilled (fridge for half hr). Most other ports, room temp (means 65 deg). Drink over several days (recork or decanted). IF vintage port (says on label) you'll want to open and let breathe for 6-12 hrs first.

Its a drink,,,just drink the bloody thing,,you sound like a professional wally !

port is one of those wines that pretty much tastes like the cork it is capped with so dont worry just get happy with it

I think you are supposed to drink it after a very large meal that has a few courses, I went to a meal like that and people were drinking port after the meal. Maybe with cheese and crackers.

Port is normally considered an after dinner drink, is served at room temperature, and by itself. Since you have just eaten, cheese would be redundant. Some folks enjoy Port along with the desert portion of dinner, but most take it as they would a fine brandy. A small amount after dinner as a nightcap before bed.

just have it. you can cook with it also, like to deglaze a pan after you make steak. Let it cook and put the steak back in and turn it, it's the best.

Port + cheese and crackers ! yummy !

I`m on a diet ! What the hell are you trying to do to me ? LOL

port is great after dinner, after work with cheese, with a nice cigar, with dessert, or by itself. serve it at room temperature, in a small glass. enjoy !! tawny ports are more mellow, with a nutty flavor, ruby & vintage ports are more fruity.
