Could you go to a bar (or wherever) and not drink and still have fun?!
Also, I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for alcoholic drinks for someone who isn't used to it. Thanks ahead of time.
Answers: Hi folks. I'm 22 years old and I can't stand the taste of alcohol. I meet a lot of people at the college I go to, and they want to go out for drinks. However, like I said, I cannot stand the stuff. Do you think its possible to have fun while sober and the people you are hanging out with are drunk? Do you think it would lead to me being uncomfortable?

It's possible, sometimes it can be just as fun watching your friends get fit shaced as you yourself doing it. However, you should try mixed drinks or sweet drinks. Next time order a pink elephant...it is delicious and doesnt taste a bit like alcohol...if you dont like it you can always call me to come and drink it! Trust me though it is really good!
You should put this under women's health. Just because you don't have a partner, doesn't mean you have to perform in front of others. Doing IT should be a private thing between two people who love each other or it can be practiced on ones self also in private. Good luck with this.
You could certainly have fun if you don't drink alcohol. I can't imagine that everyone of your friends gets drunk.
There are many many alcoholic drinks that taste good. Here are just a few : Bailey's Irish Cream on the rocks, Kahlua and cream, fuzzy navel (peach schnapps and orange juice), melon ball (midori and orange juice).
Yes you can.
I don't like the taste of beer... but I love cocktails. If you drink strawberry daiquiri's or a long island ice tea, those should be fine. I mean, you don't taste beer at all, and the vodka isn't as strong (some places have really strong vodka in those cocktail drinks).
If you do want to go out with friends and drink, just order one drink and take little sips. Just try make it last through the whole night if you want.
Honestly, you don't have to drink to have fun at a bar. I usually never get drunk or even drink at bars with my girl friends, but still have a blast. I tell them that I don't feel like drinking and they turn around and don't drink as much so I don't feel left out.
Have fun and of course be safe!
Yes I have and still do as I can be called to work at anytime and can't have alcohol in my system. Virgin Margarita's are my favourite, or cranberry juice and soda, or sweet lime juice and soda and they look just like real cocktails.
I can go into my local boozer and ask for a glass of cloves and diet Pepsi and no one would bat an eye.
In these days of anti drink driving there have often been people I don't really know me come to me and ask me to drive them home.
Some will put me in a taxi back to the pub or say they will pick up the car at the pub.
I never understood exactly why I was put in a cab that night, save that it was a new BMW
I do it all the time (i think i have more fun, actually, drunk people are funny) When ever i go to an all night party, i take 2 coolers with me and nurse them all night. When i first started, i drank a bottle of water for every drink i had (flushes the system)
The first thing i tried is Coolers, and i would try jello shooters if they are not made to strong
I don't think I understand "Bones" answer. However, you can have a blast not drinking alcohol, and you should not feel pressured into drinking if you don't want to. Drink soda like coke, if anyone asks, and you feel funny about it, tell them its a rum and coke. You can actually be the designated driver, and the person who gets to watch all the idiots get drunk and act foolish. Be sure to bring something to video tape with!
Yes, you can have fun in a club, bar whatever it may be stoned sober, sane....I did it for a long time until I decided I it was time I wanted to drink. I started drinking when I was ready not because everyone told me to. I drank orange juice and water and danced my life away.
You don't have to drink, but if you do decide...if you like milk you can try Baileys and milk on ice or Southern Comfort and Dry Ginger Ale with ice...GOOD LUCK!! Hope this helps.
Then do this: have "virgin" versions of drinks and be convivial
I love to go out and have a great time without drinking... my trick is to leave well before midnight! I can't stand to be around much later than that when my friends are drinking - they become overly "friendly" or totally obnoxious! The next day I just wake up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day... they wake up with major hang overs or sometimes they have to do the walk of shame!
well im underage (but you know it doesnt matter when you are at college) and I dont drink for many reasons, and I can still go out there and have fun with my friend while they are getting drunk, and i think its better then being drunk honestly. I get to tell them all the stupid things that they did and laugh at them while they are doing it... and ill remember it all... but you have to be willing to have a good time and not be so bummed about the fact that you arnt drinking too. as for drinks you could try i would say anything fruity would be the obvioius choice, but i dont know if you would be into that
Sure! I didn't drink until I was 26. As long as your friends are true friends and do not push you to do anything. Then you will not be uncomfortable. They should allow everyone to have a good time, even if you aren't drinking.
Try drinking an energy drink like red bull or monster. I've had a couple and you get all energetic.
I've never gotten into beer. The taste is gross.
I've liked white russians because they are very sweet but heavy because of the cream.
Try drinks that have a low alcohol content such as those drinks that have midori in it. You could ask for a midori and seven up. Very light and has a melony taste. Most of your fruity drinks are low in alcohol content as long as they put one alcoholic drink and then a soda to it.
Vanilla stolichnaya vodka and coke is smooth and taste just like vanilla flavored soda.
If you like cherry coke...try coke with cherry vodka.
If you get a tall drink, it will have more soda in it than if you get a short one.
Of course you can have fun without getting drunk. Think how amusing it will be to see others make fools of themselves. Besides, if you're in the company of friends, they will need a designated driver. You could even save lives. There are lots of tasty, non-alcoholic drinks that won't make you drunk or give you a hangover. And if a girl looks good to you, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing your vision is clear and not clouded by beer goggles. There are many advantages to staying sober.
As for alcoholic drinks that won't put you under the table, you could go for wine coolers, which is wine diluted with soda. Also, if you eat something while you're drinking, the effects of alcohol are much less for a beginner. Or you could maybe have a mixed drink or two, but alternate it with plain soda. Your best bet is to leave the stuff alone, and don't let your peer group influence you to do something you really would rather not. I admire you for having the courage and the good sense of your convictions. Good luck!
The best advice on a non-alcohol tasting cocktail is a screwdriver which is just orange juice and vodka or a malibu and pineapple. you can always ask the bartender to make it light. that way you can drink, still have fun, and maybe get a buzz out of it too.
i do drink sometimes when i go out with friends, but sometimes i don't. just let yourself go and just have fun like you were drunk. just tell anyone who asks that you are the designated driver and they won't bother you. that's what i do. lol
try a fruity drink that does not taste like liquor..like a apple martini...me personally i can't have a good time unless i drink....i hate the taste of beer and all hard liquors....so i stick to the fruity drinks..and if it's too strong i made them add pineapple juice
