1 point 5 litre Bottle of Brut Dargent 1986.?!
Answers: I have a bottle of aforementioned Brut Dargent ,Methode Champenoise,Blanc de Blancs, Chardonay 1986.I have it since 1988 and kept it on its side in a cupboard in a relatively cool room off the kitchen. Can I have comments please on its condition,suitability for drinking, especially for a family celebration soon.
I suspect it's way past it's best and may have lost much of it's fizz. It'll be just about drinkable but better left unopened as an ornament. I once discovered 20 bottles of '78 Cliquot stored in a cave , tried a few little sips and poured the lot down the sink! If you would really like to taste it for sentimental reasons I'd chill it first and be prepared to add a little extra to it maybe cognac, sugar, fresh orange , ice cubes , cassis or crême de pêche de vigne. I wouldn't think you'd come to any harm. Cheers!
