Why is Everclear extremely dangerous?!

Question: I mean, i know the proof of it, but it sems like Moonshine can do the same thing...both take your breath away, and have a strong content of alcohol in it, more than 100 proof, but idk why, besides the two..

It's as strong as gasoline,it's like running gas through your liver,a good way to have liver failure,i once had no gas in the garage and had ever clear in the cabinet and the car needed a shot of gas to start cause the battery was almost dead,so i dumped some Ever Clear down the carb turned it over and it started. That is a for real fact i did, stay away from that stuff.

Everclear is grain alcohol, comes in two strength bands, both 95% (190 proof), and 75.5% (151 proof) bottles. Although, the 95% is undeniably the most popular and most available type. By contrast, hard liquors such as rum and vodka generally contain 40% alcohol (80 proof).

I think it is not dangerous. But wrong using is dangerous. There are some fatal level of alcohol, if was drinking and reached it you'll die.
Drinking vodka or other strong drinks is dangerous the same way Everclear is. You just need to know your limit, how to drink it (then not to burn your stomach).

Caveat emptor: Drinking too much overprrof booze in one sitting can make you go blind or you can go into a coma.... or even set the house on fire if you light up a flame around it.

Everclear is so dangerous because people drink it as if it is a normal alcohol beverage. As the other posters stated, everclear is 190 proof. Yes, you can use it to start your car. Yes, if near a flame it will light on fire. And if you choose to drink it straight, it can burn a whole in the lining of your stomach. It would be the equivalent of drinking gasoline, and you wouldn't drink gasoline, now would you? The only way you should serve everclear is as a mixed drink, and even then it needs to be properly diluted so that it is not as potent. I actually had an empty bottle that had been empty for about 2 weeks. Took a lighter to the empty bottle and the flame swept through the bottle. Hope that helps you.

because one shot of everclear is stronger then two shots of vodka so many people will have say 3 drinks that equals about 7 drinks if you are using everclear... so say you are at a party i usually have around 8-10 drinks if im not driving and if i am i have around 3-4. if i was using everclear instead of vodka or rum. after ten drinks i would be in a hospital or dead because it would equal around 21 drinks and ten usually gets me sufficiently drunk. and if i was driving i would be in no shape to drive after 3 drinks because it would be like having 7 or so. dont drink everclear unless its very very well mixed into lots and lots of cool aid or hawaiian punch by someone who knows what they are doing. my friend once had to go to the hospital because of everclear he had about 5 shots worth mixed in gatorade and he just gulped it down. very stupid.

John D is correct...my uncle once started his grill with Everclear because he was out of lighter fluid...That should tell you something...I would only suggest drinking it in moderation

If you mean why do you hear more about Everclear than moonshine, even though they're practically the same thing?

Moonshine is hard to find, and associated with backwoods home distillers more likely to kill you then get you drunk. Everclear is relatively easy to find, and commercialized so you know it won't kill you (though you can use it to kill yourself).
