If you were at a dinner party...?!

Question: or a cocktail party and someone gave you a glass of chilled red wine...what would you do?

Answers: or a cocktail party and someone gave you a glass of chilled red wine...what would you do?

I would sip it very slowly so it would gradually come down to room temperature (the best way to drink red wine) lol and try not to be rude about it!

drink...it?

drink it!!

depends is it a dinner or a cocktail party"
dinner: taste it to see if ti was any good
cocktail: smell it's bouquets first then taste it!

wait for it to get to room temp

give it back...I don't drink wine...

well that depends on the situation... If I needed to drive home I would politely say thank you but I can't tonight... They may have an alternative for you or stick with sparkling water...

Hope it helps your question is a little vague

Poltiely ask them if they happen to have some that isn't chilled because that's the way you'd prefer to have it.If they say no then just decline it.Why do people think they HAVE to have something they don't like just to spare someone's feelings?

Sip at it. I don't like wine but if they gave it to me, I certainly wouldn't want to offend them.
Are you being a wine snob in saying that wine can't be chilled? When and if I do drink wine I much prefer it chilled.
Why can't we have it the way we want without snobs judging?

My Italian mother-in-law puts ice in her red wine. I'd drink it.

drink it. If it's of poor quality, be glad it's chilled as it won't taste nearly as bad.

Wine is best served at cellar temp. This means stick it in the fridge for a half hour before serving.

You said chilled, so it should be at the proper temperature. If they left it in the fridge overnight, I'd call it cold red wine not chilled.

As you let ethanol warm to 74F it becomes volatile and offensive. If your room were to be warmer than that and allowed it to warm up, it would probably become worse than if you realized what the proper temperature was.

In short, Europeans could (and to some extent can) just open a bottle because it was stored in a WINE CELLAR. Americans store wine on the counter, in a cabinet or on top of a fridge. Unless it's winter and your heater is broken, this is way above cellar temp. Americans need to chill wine first, Europeans with cellars don't, other Europeans do. (I'm American, BTW). Why on earth would there actually be a market for those 12 bottle wine coolers (not the stupid drink, the appliance)? Because wine is best served chilled, not at warm room temperature. Somewhere along the way the word "cellar temperature" got confused with "Room temperature" and people started to drink it too warm.

Yes, you can find specific examples that contradict this, but in general, reds go in the fridge for 30 minutes.

drink it? as long as i wasnt at a shady party where someone would like..lace it with something lol

if you are a female please decline unless its by another female or friend coworker. if you are a male then drink up.

Good answer Martini! I would have to agree with you my friend.

Just hold it until it's a temp you like, then drink it. Don't say anything to them like it's supposed to be served at room temp-that would be rude.

Throw it on the wall and fart real loud!!!!

I'd leave it out to warm and then chug the whole glass in one gulp.

Well, since I drink only a little bit, I would taste it and try to be polite about it, even if it tastes horrendous. If it was totally good, I wouldn't ask for another-I would just wait for another glass to be offered.

Lots of people chill red wine. After you open it and re-cork it, it will keep longer in the fridge than in the cupboard. Red wine is good chilled. Throw in a couple ice cubes and some 7up or Sprite. Stop being a snob. If you ever win a Nobel prize, you can start being a snob again, but until then, knock it off.

Politely decline since I do not drink alcohol
