I'm having blood work done on Friday morning, it's Tuesday night now... can I drink tonight?!

Question: They told me "try" not to drink 3 days before. Technically this morning would have been the full 3 days before. But I thought alcohol only stayed in the bloodstream for like 24 hours?

Would it show up or effect the blood if I drank a little bit this evening? Thanks in advance.

alcohol streams out of blood, if you stop drinking, at the average rate of 0.10g/liter per hour which means 2g/liter of blood will take about 20hours to get rid of, depending on wether you excercise, drink alot (of non alcoholic beverages) or not
if you drink moderately, it shouldn't be a problem

It sounds like this is an important test if they don't want you drinking for 3 days before. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. Getting a good buzz is less important than your long term health.

Do you want to be diagnosed with something that you don't have and possibly be given some medication that could paralyze you for life and you can be staring up at the ceiling wondering where the hell you are? sure, if that's what you want go out and drink yourself to death. if you want to get true results--stay home--put your feet up and have some egg nog. good luck

You don't want any false positive readings, so I would not drink. Wait until after the blood work. Whatever it is that they are trying to rule out or diagnose, needs to be as accurate as possible.

How do we know
what are you being tested for??
check with the doctors office
if they are after your liver ????
you' ll screw it up
if it is pre-surgery screening
the anesthetist is going to reject you and will let a janitor put you under..
