Buying Calvados Direct From Producers?!

Question:

Buying Calvados Direct From Producers?

I would like to buy calvados direct from the producer. Will I save money doing this? Does anybody know of producers that sell direct to the public?

Answers:
Why would you want to, tastes like petrol. Pommeau is nice though. Best way is to go to Normandy and buy direct from producers. The Domfrontais is the sweetest as it has 15% pear juice in it, but still takes your voice away. If you really want to buy online, try

To get "calvados" you need to go to france for it .
But you may find apple brandy (which is what calvados is, but the french don't like anyone else using the name).
As for saving money, depends on what deal the producers make with the traders/merchants.

I have found a really nice one in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia.

Calvados is produced under strict licence laws in France and so it is about 20% proof and expensive .However if you visit the region of Normandy around Domfront the farmers produce it for "private sale " this is stronger and cheaper I got a big bottle for 10 euros and it is good stuff not like petrol at all unfortunately you have to do the legwork yourself but the area is lovely and it would be an ideal holiday project and good for learning the lingo
