Get a towel.
Twist off the wire cage.
Cover the cork with the towel and grasp it firmly.
With your other hand, firmly grasp the bottle.
Slowly twist the bottle (not the cork!) while gently easing the cork out of the neck.
Do it slowly, trying to minimize the pop! (that everyone seems to love, but is really bad for the champagne.)
Pour into glass.
Drink.
Enjoy.

Shake it

Go elvotney's answer. The idea is to remove the bottle from the cork, odd as that sounds. It looks dramatic in the movies to pop the cork, but it can fly with a lot of force and do damage. Yeah, like mom said "YOU CAN PUT AN EYE OUT". and waste good champagne - which is worse.

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry carefully!

with a sabre

Good explanation.

Aim bottle in a safe direction (as if you're learning how to shoot a gun) then take the cork out with just your thumb, allowing cork to fly.
