Why can't I drink alcohol?!

Question: I consider myself lucky because I've never been properly drunk, and I rarely even bother to drink, because after even one mixed drink I start to sweat and my stomach hurts and I feel as if I might hurl. Is this normal and something that will stop with increased frequency of drinking, or am I doing something wrong, or do I just have a natural resistance to alcohol, like an allergy?

Good for you in a good way! I wish one made me sick, but it takes 10 or more. You are a lucky man. If you really want to get drunk, the sickness would probably go away with increasing little by little. pdgreen10@yahoo.com

I would go with allergy. Don't worry your not missing anything by being sober.

oh man i'm the same!!! i start feeling heavy and eventually go to sleep or get sick...

remember to drink alcohol WITH FOOD...

i.e *before hitting clubs/bars EAT SOMETHING FILLING
*at a function there should be food, remember to have something to eat and your alcohol should be consumed in small bits....not a massive scull....cause thats when you go a bit more nuts than if you had 2 or 3 over the whole night rather than 3 at the start.

don't really know if you can stop it with more drinking...but i'm younger so i might "grow out of it" or something...dam

Your body has to get used to it as it is a foriegn substance to you...however i would keep it that way otherwise you might become an addict and we all know the what happens then!!!

I've never heard of an allergy to alcohol. The only thing I know of is being allergic to certain alcohols because of whats in them such as I'm allergic to Amaretto because it is made with almonds and I am allergic to nuts. I would guess that your body is just reacting to a foreign substance, I would say your body would probably start reacting better if you drink a little more frequently but not in excess.

You may have an overacidic stomach, an ulcer or other bowel irritation. This may be tip of the iceberg stuff, I would probably consult an MD to ensure there is nothing serious happening, you only got 1 body, protect it.
