Answers: was reading it was in a part of germany annexed by france

Kronenbourg is an Alsatian brewery founded in 1664 by Jér?me Hatt in Strasbourg, 17 years prior to the territory being annexed by France.

History:
Jér?me Hatt, who obtained his Master Brewer's certificate in 1664, started up the Canon Brewery in the Place du Corbeau in Strasbourg. His son Claude (born November 1665), succeeded his father in the trade in 1683. However, the frequent flooding of the River Ill compelled a move to the higher terrain of Cronenbourg in 1850.

In 1922, the Hatt Brewery changed its name to Tigre Bock, the most well-known brand of the Tiger Brewery it had acquired to become leading brewer in Alsace. Following the Second World War, "Kronenbourg" became the name of the company, and began international expansion.

Originally Kronenbourg brewed ale, but it is now known for lagers. Kronenbourg is the leading brand of beer in France, where it had a 40% market share in 2004. In 1970, it was acquired by industrial group BSN (now Groupe Danone), along with the Société Européenne de Brasseries (Kanterbr?u). In 1986, Kronenbourg merged with Kanterbr?u.

British company Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) plc acquired it in 2000 for £1.7 billion.

Its main breweries are located in Obernai and in Champigneulles, although the Champigneulles site is now up for sale. Kronenbourg 1664 is also brewed in the UK by S&N at its Berkshire and Manchester (Royal) breweries.

Beer is best fresh so only your local brands are awesome.

Hfrank is wrong. A lot of good beers improve with age. Some you can't even drink until they age.

Krounenberg is not good because its German. Germany also puts out a lot of bad beers.

i think i see where your going with this;because german imigrants brought beer brewing technology to america [bud, miller, coors old mil, pabst, shlitz,] there is no doubt that they knew how to brew a nice lager, you are suggesting the same thing happened in france, smart german brewers started krounenberg and france inherited a good brewery.i think you are correct. in china tsingsoa was started by germans, maximillian brought german brewers to mexico in1800's,german brewers brought beer to south america, the list goes on and on,germans= good beer, they even have a law about beer ...the 1516 bavarian purity law regulate what can be used and how.so to answer your question,yes...... nice info billy,.....but before 1681 strasbourg[where it is brewed]was part of german empire, and dictinctly german, its church was luthurn, people spoke german, thus they needed their beer,i'm sure mr. hatt obtained his training in german hands
