There is nothing small about Ravenswood but I do think they make some decent wines - the Lodi zin is my favorite. Other affordable good wines: Goats do Roam, Stickleback Red, 2005 Pillar Box Red (2006 not as good), Four Vines zin. All under $10 where I'm at.

Regardless of price? Go for a Oregon Pinot Noir or Muga from Spain. So good. There's a lot out there in high end reds.

I like Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. It's about $12 in Massachusetts. It's about $7 in New Hampshire.

Cabernet wines are good.

Cabernet sauvignon and meander wines are good I reckon

If you buy " Merlot" or "Cabernet Sauvignon", you can't go wrong. Some of them are quite cheap. Also "Zinfandel" or "Chardonnay"

It was strange I always got headaches from wine until I came across Triggs. Just one glass of any other wine and it gave me terrible headaches! I don't know if you live in Canada or the USA but I live in Canada and it is a Canadian wine. It's the only wine I can drink, both the red or white from Triggs that doesn't give me a headache and is reasonalbly priced!

caymus and rothschild... you cant go wrong w/ 2 buck chuck (trader joes) has it.

French..........chataux nerf de pap

I love Ernest & Julio Gallo's Cafe Zinfandel. It is affordable.

Yellowtail is hands down the best cheap wine I've ever had.

I would go with Ravenswood. They are a small Sonoma County vineyard that has exceptional unfiltered red wines priced from 12- 18 bucks a bottle. They also ofer vinters blend wines that run about 8-10 bucks a bottle. I don't know where you are located but most California grocery stores carry Ravenswood. Check out there web site at

I live in Ontario so I drink mostly Pelee Island Wine or any other VQA.
I dont have a favourite, there are far too many wines to try to have a favourite.

I like Chambourcin as a type of wine that is very affordable. Windy Gap made a good one.

.

Penfolds
Yellow Tail
Black swan
Straccoli
Lindemans

$$ = Tignanello (Super Tuscan), Antinori

I would have to say Rosemount Shiraz around 23 dollars canadian australian wine. Or Yellow Tail Merlot around 13 dollars canadian.

For no holds barred I would have to save Chateau Nuf de Pup french red wine will cost you around 70 dollars or more depending on year.
