I'd start with something light like beer or a wine cooler type drink. The actually taste of alcohol isn't that great so if you start with a shot of tequila or something it might be too much for you to handle.

depends wat you are drinking! Vodka at 80% proof would get a first timer after about 150mls. it also depends on how thin or fat you are. Fatter=more Thinner=less. about 4 pints of 8% proof would get you drunk also...

I would say one drink should be the limit- depends on what you like, maybe cranberry and vodka.

To be legally drunk, it would probably only take 2 drinks, depending on the person's body weight. For that person to feel the effects of the alcohol is different. It would depend on a variety of factors, including whether or not the person had eaten recently, the type of alcohol consumed and other factors.

Depends on your weight and the drink. A Long Island Ice Tea (which I suggest) will get you drunk faster than a glass of wine.

It takes me about three or four drinks to get much effect from alcohol, but I have been drinking for quite a while and weigh quite a bit. For a young person of average weight it would probably take one to two drinks to get a "buzz."

As for actual drunkenness -- first, that's a function of how quickly you drink in addition to how much. If you do a series of shots you can temporarily become extremely drunk. If you drink at a more reasonable pace it would probably take something more like eight to twelve drinks for an average person to get really drunk.

If you want to learn about your limits, go to a bar or restaurant (not a club or party) and have a few drinks.

As for what to drink, alcohol isn't exactly an acquired taste but if you try to drink whiskey like it was soda you are going to drink way too much at once and it will burn your throat, etc. You may want to try something relatively simple for your very first drink, e.g. a rum and coke, due to the familiar flavor pattern and the fact that you drink it about like you would a normal coke. After that, though, there's no reason to stick to anything other than whatever it is you like. I would avoid doing shots before you're more familiar with the effects of alcohol, however -- stick to cocktails, highballs, wine, or maybe sipping liquors.

Some of this may sound a little complicated, but once you've had two or three drinks it will all just make sense naturally.
