Gifts for cigar lovers and/or writers?!
Answers: The guy I have been seeing for almost 2 1/2 months, I have no clue what to get him for xmas. He smokes cigars and goes to a cigar shop with his buddies, and im clueless about cigars. He also writes novels on his laptop. I want to get him something that shows I put thought into his gift and that I like him a lot. What are some good gifts for writers and or cigar lovers?
A cigar cutter, a classy lighter, or a cigar case would be a good idea for a cigar theme.
As a writer, one thing we really love are the tools of the trade. Even if he primarily writes on his laptop, a high quality pen, stationary, and a moleskine can make us salivate.
Another angle is that many of us writers get so caught up in our own ideas we forget what turned us on to writing in the first place: reading. A rare edition of one of his favorite books (or even just a classic book) will be indespinsible. Check out his bookshelf and if he has any books that have been in print for a long time try to find the oldest editon of it that you can.
i would give him a gift card from the cigar shop that he shops at.
I would go to the cigar shop that he goes to and if they know him ask him ask them what he likes to smoke. Cigars can be pretty pricing and depending on your budget maybe get him one or a few high dollar "splurge cigars" that he normally would not get for himself, just ask the folks at the shop for recommendations.
You could buy him a nice, stainless steel cigar cutter - that's a nice gift. Also - do you know his favorite author(s)? You could buy him a nice, hardcover book, or an autobiography of his favorite author.
My husband loves cigars so I'm familiar with this question. I've used the following website to purchase him gifts.

If you don't know what type of cigar he likes then go with buying him accessories. There's this "desktop cigar cutter" on this site that would be nice for him to put on his desk while writing novels, and lighting up a cigar. It's only $24.95 so it's not too bad and it's classy looking.
Good luck!
You could get him a writing program, such as PowerWriter. It's not cheap, but not too expensive, either. It helps to organize a novel by creating an extremely user-friendly outline and also has additional features like a bottom bar with character sketches, plot points, etc. I use it and love it.
Other writer-ly gift could be pen sets, a journal, or the latest edition (2008) of Writers Market, that lists magazines, agents, and publishers who are accepting new manuscripts.
a nice ash tray, zippo. Can go to a cigar shop and ask what a nice cigar is and buy one or two.
