When someone wants a BIG wine what does that mean? How about a DRY wine?!

Question: I agree with Wistabee...

A "Big" flavor means a wine has robust flavor. Typically a wine has various flavor, but you tend to refer to as various types of fruit and other taste. When a wine has "big" taste, these flavors and tastes come together and presents in a harmonious way. People tend to think "Big"wine in red wine, but you can have "big" white wines as well. Typically well made Cabernet and merlot are what people would concentrate as big.

On the other hand, "Dry" wine refer to how it taste. There are 2 ways people describes as "Dry". A red wine often is described as "Dry" due to the tannin. The tannin causes puckering of the mouth and makes it feel like dry, as you would find in Cabernet and Zinfandel. More commonly, a "Dry" wine is white, often more acidic and citric, like a Chardonnay.

A wine can be Dry and Big at the same time.
