La Fee Absinthe Parisian 45abv 70cl?!
Answers: Im thinking of ordering a bottle of this. Would this be good for a first timer? I'm more interested in the "Secondary Effects" rather then the alcohol effects, so I picked this with the lower abv (I can drink more, therefore consume more herbs). I've read that all the nonsense about hallucinating is bull, but what should I expect. I've read about users experiences clearer minds? And more vivid thoughts... lucidity... Just curious if anyone knows the answers to my questions...
The "secondary effects" are nonsense. The only thing the wormwood adds is flavor. It's true that thujone is a neurotoxin, but so is alcohol itself, and there is so much more alcohol in absinthe than thujone that the effects of the thujone are nonexistant.
The only reason to buy absinthe is if you enjoy drinking it either straight or in sazeracs or a couple of other cocktails. You can buy some pastis to get a good approximate idea of what it tastes like.
I myself have not tried this particular bottling, but I've heard good things about it. It's definitely a better product than the green food dye / everclear / thujone combos that I hear they sell in grocery stores.
It does have a different effect than other alcohols. Some describe it as a more "clear-headed drunkenness." I've found that I don't feel drunk when I'm drinking absinthe, but I still have a headache the next day.
La Fee isn't bad, but it's not great and it is artificially colored.
If you're ordering a bottle from overseas, you may as well order something from here: http://www.absintheonline.com/acatalog/A... almost anything on that page is wonderful. I recommend the jades. If you're in the US, the only exception to those wonderful absinthes is Kubler, and that's just because you may as well save on shipping and order it from here instead: http://www.drinkupny.com/category_s/86.h...
