Wine flavor?!

Question:

Wine flavor?

i can't figure out the name of this wine. all i know about it is i THINK it's a dessert wine. i know it's sweet...i think...? i know it has the word "cake" in the title. i also know that when you go to get this wine (at least here in central iowa) that it's almost always out of stock. it's also pretty expensive for the bottle....somewhere between $40-$90.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP - - i really need to know what kind of wine this is.

Answers:
I have in front of me a bottle of 2005 Layer Cake Shiraz from Australia. We bought it in Missouri recently (in a specialty wine shop) and paid 16.99 for the bottle. I imagine the price for a bottle served in a restaurant would be at least $40 or more. Maybe this is the one you're thinking of.

PS: is it good?

Only thing I can think of is Cakebread Cellars. http://www.cakebread.com/

Could be Layer Cake Shiraz. This is a very fruit-forward style of Australian Shiraz that has been the bestselling wine in our shop for the past few months--and we're down to our last few bottles of the 2005 vintage. However, it's not as expensive as what you're looking for (we sell it for $15.99) so it may not be the same thing.
