English & Wales licensing law answer:
First, for the N. American replies, in England although advisable it is not a legal requirement to carry ID.
Next points, the door staff should be following the management admission policy and so you know they are approved licensed door staff they must wear and display their security industry badges.
There is no 'right' to have entry no matter how old a person is and all admission is at the managements discretion.
It is actually legal to go into licensed premises, bars & nightclubs, once you are 16yrs old but no one under 18yrs can buy alcohol or have it bought for them except in very limited circumstances when having a meal and accompanied by an adult who buys for you and supervises your eating and drinking. Responsible venues tend not to take advantage of this 16yrs admission ability.
Most places, esp. at this time of the year are frightened of losing their licences because of under age drinkers, hence the managements apparently strict door vetting. If you take ID such as a passport or photo card driving licence they may agree to admit you. Perhaps a phone call to the management before hand will resolve the problem.
Enjoy your Christmas.

if she is 22 tell her to take some ID!

All she has to do is show some i.d. to prove her age. She must have a birth certificate or something.

yes the doorman has every right to stop her going in. If shes 22 then she should just get a provisional driving licence or take her passport with her

She really needs to get herself I.D then. The rules are there to prevent younger people from harming themselves/others. The rules cannot be bent just because she tells the doormen she is 22. Everyone under 18 prob tells them the same story!

Listen, I know lots of doormen and if she flirts and promises to do the do, then the whole lot of you will be in for free. Win win situation.

Of course they can stop her. She needs to carry her passport or driving licence to prove her age.

doesnt she have any id? like a passport or a driving licence?

she must have had this problem b4.

i always take my driving licence out with me coz i get id'd

the rule is if you look under the age of 21 you could get asked for id. if she takes some out with her she will be fine

try talking in English not Ebonics first of all, jackass, 22, why doesn't she have any ID, you are required by law to carry ID.

i know it seems embarassing to use id at 22 but it would be in her best interests. All pubs, clubs and shops can refuse service or entry if the person looks under age. In most cases its if they appear under 21.

There are age limits in every state; at 22 years of age your friend should have either a valid driver's license, or a state I.D. card. By law, if something ever happens, and they don't have either one, the police can arrest you and keep you in holding for up to 3 days!! Now, that would be a bummer! And if they ARE 22 and have an ID (must be state issued only!) and are not permitted to enter, I would call the police; they, 90 percent of the time, say that the resaurant or pub has the legal right to serve or refuse service to whom ever they choose. I would then get a lawyer, and file a law-suit against the person that refused me entrance as well as the establishment for AGE DISCRIMINATION.

She just needs to take some ID with her.

what she need is some id card so she can so the doorman, the id scheme as been out for a long time now, but i must say it is not fair when you have waited until you are 18 to try to get in a pub.
sign of the times now to many under aged drinker nowadays

Id she should have one by now.

She just has to produce some identification. A photocard driving licence does the trick - there's no way a doorman can say you've used someone else's birth certificate. Or perhaps her passport. That has formal id and photo on it. Either of these would be quite appropriate.

Tell her to take her birth certificate.
Doesn't get in, sue the shirt off them.

I was refused entry to a club once when I was 21 because I looked very young for my age. I had legal ID on me when I got there. I got really mad and asked some law enforcement friends if that was legal and they said a club could refuse service to anyone anytime.

The simple answer is that the doormen can refuse admission if the girl/boy looks underage. The easy way is to carry some photo id with her. Take it as a compliment ..... better to look too young for her age than older, surely. lol. Good luck.

Tell her to carry her passport, as it is the only universal form od ID that is accepted.

The management refuse the right to let anyone in and generally do not even have to give a reason.
