Question:

Home-made ale is non hangover, is it the chemicals...?

...in commerciallly-made beer the culprit for giving hangovers?
If not, what?

Answers:
As already stated, homebrew contains massive ammounts of vitamin B complex. A hang over is produced by a lack of vitamin B. Vitamin B helps with water retension. As you know, when hung over, you are dehydrated. Dehydration is the biggest factor in a hangover, so you want Vitamin B. Those pills you can get that say they will prevent a hangover are loaded with Vitamin B as well.

Ah but home made ale usually has it's revenge in the smallest room in the house if you get it wrong.

Homebrew can produce less of a hangover because it's not filtered and contains yeast. Yeast is rich in vitamin B (among other thing) which is one thing your body is depleted of when you get dehydrated while drinking.

Hangovers result from the amount of congeners and the amount of alcohol consumed. There is no such thing as a non hangover alcoholic beverage. The reason you are probably not feeling the effects of too much alcohol in your home-made ale is because it is lower in both congeners and alcohol.

Now, I have made some home brewed beer that will put you on you back side and if you drink more than about three or four, you will feel the effects on the morning after. It tests out at about 12% alcohol.

everyone says the B vitamins which home brew is rich is prevents hangovers, i dont totaly buy that though hangovers are more a result of dehydration and alcohol metabolites which happens with any beverage, and B vitamins have nothing to do with that
