I agree with Willhurs and Sauce Monster.

In general, Shiraz has stronger flavor due to the nature of the grape and the way it is made - primarily Shiraz grape or a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, both are very flavorful. On the other hand, Bordeaux are blend, primarily a Merlot and Cabernet Franc basis, with some Cabernet Sauvignon. The blending process is meant to create a wine that is well balanced. However, with Bordeaux, you ran into a couple of issues. First, an "in your face" wine will not be the goal of the Bordeaux wine maker, since they are looking for a balance. Secondly, Bordeaux are tend to need cellaring, which will mellow out the wine even more. As a result, you get a complex wine but not too flavorful in the way that many Californian wine lovers would know.

I like both types of wines. I am a Californian wine drinker, and over past 2 years, I have fallen in love with California Syrah. I also have started learning Australian Shiraz. I also love Bordeaux and learned a lot at their fabulous 2000 vintage. However, the price of Bordeaux is outrageous, especially with weak US dollars and strong Euro, as well as well rated 2005 and 2006 vintages.

I like Bordeau Claret, but I've actually never tried Shiraz and therefor can't comment on it.

Claret is stonger
the shiraz is too dry
I was awake all night because i drank too much wine last night. oops :)

That's impossible to answer in general terms. All wines vary in intensity depending on soil, climate and wine-making techniques.
However, at normal quality/price levels I would say that most Shiraz (Syrah, in France) are fuller than most Bordeaux.
This is not to say that they are necessarily better!
The choice is yours; get tasting!

I like Bordeaux. I believe it is much more versatile and is capable of immense complexity and grace.
Shiraz on the other hand (and I'm assuming you mean the Aussie stuff by your spelling) is a bit heavy handed - especially the Barossa Valley wines. They are yummy with a bar-b-que etc., but lack finesse.
The Shiraz is definitely stronger in flavour.
