f[u]ck dat dude get all drunk and have sex and do stupid things cuz the end of the world is more closer than u think, this goes to every1

Keep in mind that you only have to be 21 to buy, not to drink. Just don't get caught and you will have fun.
Good times!!!

Because MADD proved that those under 21 drove too much while drinking and ended up dead.

Ummmm, i believe the drinking age in the USA is 21 for all states not just Texas. Maybe it would be younger if people could prove that they are not complete idiots when it comes to ALCOHOL. Just a thought

If you have to ask you are too young.

A long time ago, someone thought it would be good to make an 18 yr old a semi-adult. Old enough to do everything except drink.

Why? I have no idea. I do remember when the drinking age was 18 for 3.2 beer.

The real answer is this. Back before the national drinking age was set at 21 each state could choose their own drinking age. However, this posed a problem. Kids living in a state who's age limit was 21 would drive to a neighboring state with a lower age limit to buy booze and get drunk. The rate of accidents was significantly increased during this time period. So the federal government stepped in and said they would cut federal highway funding for states whose drinking age laws were 18. So it isn't a law per se, but states would lose so much money for road repairs each year that it wouldn't be worth lowering their age limit to 18.

The reason 21 was established as the age limit was do to neuroscience evidence. A human brain (specifically prefrontal cortex...think planning and emotional control) is not fully developed until the early 20's. Alcohol consumption hinders full development, but how much is not fully understood. Rather then taking the chance though, researchers proposed that the minimum age should be 21.
