none

1-2 pieces

0-1 pieces.

I drink whiskey all in preference i would think! I put three cubes in a 8 ounce glass! wait about ten minutes and its perfect..not too strong!

If it is good whiskey you don't need anything like ice or a mixer.

Not all whisk(e)ys need water/ice. There was once a time when water was truly needed to taste all of the nuance of whisk(e)y. The water stretched out the flavor and allowed more character to be noticed. Nowadays there IS water in most whisk(e)ys. They use it to bring distillations back down to 70 proof or whatever. These don't need water to be enjoyed but there are still distillers that make and bottle "cask strength" spirits that haven't been diluted at all. They DO need water to be enjoyed. Just a splash really or put it over ice. The measure is like 2oz/bottle but you really need to find it for yourself. If it's cask strength the way you want to order it is "whiskey straight with branch on the side" but most people won't have branch (the source water) so get "whiskey straight with water on the side".

Don't put ice in good whisky, please.
Why water it down?
If you are buying the cheap stuff I suppose it doesn't matter...

I usually take 1 cube to about 3ozs. of Woodfords. Mmmm Im getting tipsy just thinking about it!

I am a former chef and a bit of a whisky expert, if you like it do try it at home, if you venture to Scotland and ask for ice, you could end up being thumped something good.

Some like a bit of cool water, now Sour Mash, Irish whisky, Canadian whisky or bourbon, they can take a bit of ice, for me 2 cubes is ebough, scotch is to robust and complex for ice, straight or with the water, if you go on a tasting tour in Scotland, something I am going to do one day, they will only offer you the water, ice is a bit of a non-issue in the UK when it comes to beverage service.

No ice in whiskey.
