What Do You think of the No Smoking in Bars law?
These are for people who live in states with these types of laws. I used to think it was too much of a reach for the government, but now I seem to enjoy being in the bar more now than before. I thought I would hate it because I could not smoke, but find it more enjoyable being outside when having a cig because people are not bothering you as much for one and you do not have jackasses blowing it directly into your face and fling their cigs at random people.

Yes this is true but being outside sometimes is an nice break away from the crazed inside scene.

As long as smokers have an area outside, covered, seating and some sort of ashtray .....then yes.........ban smoking in all indoor buildings.
There are alot of rude smokers.

I'm completely anti-smoking and anti-alcohol, but I think it's basically an infringement of business rights... When someone goes to a bar they are expecting that type of thing and if they don't like it, they shouldn't go...
If you like it, that's great. However, in a bar people drink and they are still going to be drunk when they go out to smoke and there are still people who will bug you for a cigarette. I don't like the law.
Maybe they can work it out by the name saying if they allow smoking or not...Like "pubs" can include smoking and "bars' do not.... But the name would have to be apart of the name on the business sign.
I think there should be both...
I do think they are going a little bit overboard with the no smoking laws. They should have zones or something like that for places that allow smoking in the premises.
I don't smoke but I think it's stupid. After all it's a bar not a church. If you don't smoke, and you go into a place where there is smoking allowed like a casino, or bars when it was still okay, that is the chance you are willing to take. I am more afraid of the drunk driver coming outta the bar killing me with his car than I am of trying to avoid his/her secondhand smoke.

I think it's just terrible that unhealthy things might be going on in bars.
Let the bastards smoke all they want.
I'm against it, and not just because I smoke. I don't think the government should have any right to tell a person how they have to run their business. If people have a problem with smoke in a bar, they will take their money somewhere else. If there are enough people who are willing to do that, there would be plenty of bar owners who would accomodate them without being told to. Nobody seems to realize the power they hold in their wallet, they expect big, clumsy government to do everything for them.
I live in a state that does not allow smoking in restaurants, but you can in bars.
I am a non-smoker, and would probably go to bars more if they did not allow smoking. However, that is my choice. I also think as long as smoking is legal, people should be allowed to smoke in most areas, hospitals and such can maintain a non-smoking exemption, as long as the business owners allow it.
I lived in a state that didn't have those laws, and I couldn't imagine having to go out for a smoke. Then I moved to CA and had to readjust. But in all honesty, it's not that bad! Bars and restaurants usually have a covered patio and heaters in the winter. And you can meet some really interesting people on smoke breaks. And you don't smell as much like as a bar when you get home. So I'm in favor of it. And yes, I'll keep smoking.

i agree with terrence. where i live, people smoke everywhere and act like it's other peoples fault that the people around them dont like it. such an inconvenience. as for bars i think it's good because if people dont like the smoke, where else can they go to drink at a bar, if ALL bars can smoke? i like bars, but i dont like smoke. so i'd like to go to a bar without smoke. you can say 'go somewhere else', but if i'm looking to go to a bar, then really there's no other good place to go to if i want to go to a bar. i shouldnt have to change my plans cuz of other peoples nasty dirty habits.
I think they should bann drinking also and sex,
I like the no smoking in bars. In my experience a lot of bars will build beer gardens to accommodate the smokers.
