I find it very funny that people have this fascination with this drink, I have consumed it a number of time, in France and the Czech Republic, and if there is still the mysticism about the hallucinogenic properties, there is worm wood in most all European versions, and it is available here in Canada in both Ontario, Quebec and BC.
But if there is one any were close to it in flavour it is the Herbsinte from New Orleans, if your looking for a buzz and some freaked out experience, it will not with absinthe any more that happened back in the middle ages when they used it to help plague sufferers before they died???
Come to Canada. You can get it at any liquor store. Well, is not exactly the real thing they used to drink in France at the beginning of the century but it gives you an idea. However, if you expect to have some unusual dreams or visions after you drink it...forget it...Unless you drink it pure and not diluted w. water and sugar as is recommended. In this case you may get some visions...since is an extremely strong drink... not for other reason :-)
