What's a good bottle of whisky to buy for my BF this xmas?!

Question: This really depends what you want to spend.

Of the cheap scotches one of the better one's is "The Famous Grouse"

Of the better scotches I like:

Talisker 12 year old (not to expensive)
Ardbeg (heavy peat flavor, if you can get it the 17 year old is outstanding and expensive)
The Balvenie (All their products are excellent. Try the Double Wood)

Do not buy well known brands with the possible exception of The Glenlivet.

johnny walker.

there's all different types (black label, blue, red, etc. etc.)

all depends if he gets violent when drunk then an empty bottle is best :)

Makers Mark. It is a bit more expensive and harder to find at times, but it is SMOOTH!!

Jack daniels,or southern comfort

Jim Bean

Crown Royal. It comes in its own bag so you won't even have to wrap it.

Johnny Walker Black. A classy 12 year old. It's a step above the rest, yet not that expensive.

Go with Johnnie Walker... Depending on how much you actually want to spend I would go with at least the Green preferably the Gold. If you really love him and don't mind the price go with the Blue.

Black: $22
Red: $22
Green: $40
Gold: $70
Blue: $190

jd is the best u can get him i wish my girf friend got me a bottle of jack for cristmass

first off - Jack Daniels, Makers Mark etc.. are NOT whisky - those are American bourbon's - some would call them whiskey. Notice the spelling (why spelling IS important).

Whisky is commonly associated with single malt whisky, a.k.a. single malt scotch.

Assuming your looking for a good single malt and you live in the UK, I'd recommend Campbeltown Longrow - http://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/categor...

If you live outside the UK, odds of getting a bottle at all, much less before xmas are slim to none. In the US, see if you can find a nice Caol Ila

seagrams.

Maker's Mark...looks fancy to b/c they dip the top of the bottle in wax so you know it is sealed

Jack Daniels Single Barrel, hands down!
