What's the best tasting red wine?!

I'm a big fan of Merlot, myself. it's so sweet.. The Cabernet(i can't remember the other part of that name, lol) is pretty tasty too. Plus, it's good for the heart! They have lots of wine tasting events around town. Since you're a fellow Texan, I'll look up a few events for you....brb...

Okay, try this site:

Also, the Houston Press and the Chronicle always post events like that.

I like shiraz and pinot noir. You may like something different though. Maybe go to a wine bar and try a few.

If your the legal age, go to a wine tasting place and taste wine till you like one. They got alot of wine to taste for a set price.

It really depends. I tend to pair my wines with my meals. So, If I am having scallops, I tend to lean toward a white wine that is a little sweet due to the scallops being sweet but not overly. Something like a Riesling whereas with pork, I go more for an oaky white like a Pinot Grigio.

With reds, I'd like Cabernet Sauvignon or a Burgundy with steak; a full bodied red and I'd have a Shiraz or a red Zinfandel with barbecue or Mexican.

For just plain sipping, I'd go with sipping something lower in tannins, such as Pinot Noir, Beaujolais or Rioja. These can even be chilled.

wine might b okay (i havent tried it) BUT Kool-Aid is awesomely good!!

Taste is subjective.
If you are new red wine, I would start with something a little lighter, less tannic like pinot noir from carneros or grenache from Australia. Perhaps some off dry reds like aussie merlot. I wouldn't drop a lot of dough at first, usually beginners with wine prefer some of the cheap mass produced plonk like yellow tail (it is made for young wine drinkers). Once you get into it a bit more, try some dry cabernets from Napa.

Exciting stuff, I remember first getting into wine. There are so many to taste, each a little different...

One of my favorites is Rosemount Shiraz. But I also like Merlot.

Both those wines pair well with food, I very rarely drink red wine by itself.

Syrah or Pinot Noir
