let a=b

a^2 = ab

a^2 + a^2 = ab + a^2

2a^2 = ab + a^2

now let's take 2ab from both sides

2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 - ab

now lets take out some factors

2(a^2-ab) = (a^2 - ab)

Now divide by a^2 - ab

2 = 1

thefore

1 + 1 = 2
1 + 1 = 3
1 + 1 = 4
