Is it too old fashioned to make a punch?!

Question: I am having a new years eve party and due to short funds I thought an alcoholic fruit punch would be a good idea. Would people turn their noses up at this?

Any recipies?

It's not old fashioned and it's a great idea ...

Christmas Party Punch Recipes
Cranberry Float (14 servings)
Ingredients: 1 quart chilled cranberry juice, 1/2 cup chilled Orange Juice, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 cups cold ginger ale, 1 pint rainbow sherbert.

Combine juices in punch bowl. Pour in ginger ale. Top with small scoops of rainbow sherbert. Serve immediately.
Hot Mulled Wine

Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups sugar, 1 1/4 cups water, 3 dozen whole cloves, 6 sticks cinnamon, 1 tablespoon nutmeg, lemon peel from 3 lemons and 2 oranges, 4 cups lemon juice, 4 bottles red wine. ( I reccommend two buck Chuck from Trader Joe's)

In a large stock pot make a syrup by boiling the sugar, water, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg lemon and orange peel for 5 minutes. Meanwhile in a saucepan cook lemon juice until hot. If you do not want the cloves and cinnamon in your hot mulled wine when you serve it ( I like it ) strain the syrup and add the hot lemon juice and the wine. Serve pipping hot!

Easy Christmas Ice Cream Nog (serves 12)
I like this Christmas party punch recipe because you are not using raw eggs as in the traditional.
Ingredients: 2 pints vanilla ice cream, 4 cups Bourbon, 2 cups light rum, 2 cups milk, grated nutmeg.

Place ice cream in large bowl. Pour the bourbon, rum and milk over the ice cream. Beat with rotary beater untill the ice cream is almost melted and the nog is Foamy.
Refrigerate until serving, laddle into small punch cups and sprinkle grated nutmeg on top.
Punch For A Crowd (75 servings)

Ingredients: 4 bottes white wine, 1 cup brandy, 1 cup Marashino cherries, 2 cups fresh grated pineapple, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup lemon juice, 2 cups orange juice, 2 quarts club soda.

Hot Apple Cider Punch (serves 20)

Ingredients: 1 gallon Apple Cider, 2 oranges sliced thinly with peels, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 6 cloves, 4 sticks cinnamon, 1/4 cup brown sugar.

Combine all ingredients in a 6 quart soup pot. Bring to a boil turn down the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve in mugs with a slice of orange in each.

No tastes much better than egg nog, go for it!

It's definately not old fashioned. A lot of events have punch.

Not at all. Most people love punch.

Never turned down a good punch yet. Old Fashioned, heck no.

Not at all - punch always goes down well!

Why don't you call it a cocktail instead, that's what it is after all! ;)

Punch is awesome

pineapple juice
cranberry juice
Parrot Bay coconut rum

Punch is fun and more retro than old fashioned---go for it! Try a carton of orange juice, a bottle of cranberry juice and a bottle of peach schnappes. If you want it to pack more of a "punch", throw in some vodka to taste. Mmmmm, mmmm, mmmm!

No, put it in one of those cute fountain punch bowls, there fun festive, and spiked punch is good! sorry never really made it. My friend did punch, sprite, and vodka it was good.
