Scotch for my Boss?!

Question: I would like to get my boss a bottle of single-malt Scotch for the Holidays. I don't know anything about scotch. What could I get that would impress the guy? What are the high-end brands? I heard of Macallan, Talisker and Laphroaig, but don't know which of these is the best! I don't want to go over $200. Any input would be great! Thanks!

Macallan 18 yr single malt

Balvenie 21 year old PortWood
Runs about 130.00

Sorry, I do not know much about scotch. But had to comment on your generosity towards your boss... $200 buck! WOW. My boss is getting a $20-30 bottle of wine.

If you are going to spring for that much try Johnny Walker Blue. It's not single malt but it's real smooth.

Auchentoshan. I've had the fortunate opportunity to enjoy several at where I work (off-duty of course), and I've tried many Canadian brands, Kentucky brands, Tennessee brands, Chivas Regal, J&B and others. They are all good, that's true. But during a tasting, I've noticed there is always usually one brand that always ends up as an empty bottle at the end of the evening. Honestly, this one is the best. It is the most smooth, has an excellent stand-alone taste, and mixes very well with any juices to take off its edge.

Tomintoul 27yo whiskey would be ur best bet am not sure wot ucan buy over seas, the thing to remember is it older the better dont buy any younger than 16yo

You cant go wrong with a 15 year old bottle of Glenfiddich. Talisker is nice but it's quite smokey. Balvenie Doublewood is nice, it's a 12 year old. I have no idea what the US charges for whiskey though.

Glenrothes, or Oban would be good choices. Each of these can be bought for around $60 or $70. If you really want to spend the 200 try to find a Chivas Royal Salute.

At least 12 years aged, that'll be $40 here...cheaper in the states..

if you're mentioning $200, u can probably roll with the top, such as johnnie walker blue label or equivalent

I don't think you need to spend $200. I am a big fan of Laphroaig myself, and the 15 year old is under $100 a bottle. I suppose you could look for very old stuff, Lafraoig makes a 25 and even a 40 year old, but they might be hard to find.

best chaise

As I am a Scotsman I would advise you to get if you can find it a nice bottle of Scappa very earthy and delicate or maybe a bottle of lagaluvin. Malt tastes different depending on where it was made. The Islay or Island malts are more earthy than the low lying malts due to the amount of peat . This is due to the water they use in the area of the distillery. my choice is either Scappa, Dalwinni, Talisker.

In the $200 range is one that I like to indulge in from time to time. Chivas Royal Salute is the name, it is quite tasty and makes a very memorable gift. Your boss will definitely like you for a gift of this. Are you trying to brown-nose him into a raise? This will definitely work if you are.
Good times!!!

you can't go wrong with jack daniels..all whiskey drinkers like this..try..www.maltmadnes.com hope this helps
