There is no real reason to boil tap water in the US. Most of our municipal governments have spent millions of dollars to ensure a safe water supply. Boiling water kills microbes but does nothing to remove the material that some people really stress out about. One of my friends is afraid of flouride, for example. But trace amounts of many compounds in the water is hardly harmful in the quantities that we consume. If there is lead in the water, it usually comes from the pipes in your house. If your house is newer construction, that won't be an issue anyway.

That all said, what your doctor said makes some sense. IF there is a measurable amount of lead in your water, and IF you boil the water for the bottle, some water will evaporate thereby increasing the concentration of lead in the water. The filtering water pitchers are probably your best solution.

BTW, I used tap water for my child's bottles, and she turned out just fine!

Good luck, and don't sweat it!

you could get a brita pitcher they work great

The water here in south alabama is wonderful from the tap
but the water in south mississippi is horrid!!
I guess it is all in where you live. Maybe you need a water filter
you can get one anywhere.
