Would the dregs of beer accidentally ingested give you ethanol poisoning?!

Question:

Would the dregs of beer accidentally ingested give you ethanol poisoning?

this happened today my partner drank about 3 mouthfulls before realising that the bitter had lots of "bits" in the barman appologised and said that it must be the bottom of the barrel.since then hes felt bloated and sick with a headache that wont go away

Answers:
The dregs are just fine...they might taste a little funky, but are perfectly safe. There's no more ethanol in them than in the rest of the beer, so it's not any source of "ethanol poisoning" above and beyond what beer is capable of by itself.

I think he's just extra grossed out from the mouthful of chunks and bits.

It will only have been yeast, sediment and general 'body' you get in beer - certainly nothing dangerous.

Tell your partner not to worry - he's safe.

It's probably just the thought of drinking unknown 'bits' thats affecting him.

It's just a little unprocessed Marmite. No problems.

No, when I read the question I thought you meant the dregs after home brewing. They wouldn't hurt you either but I wouldn't stray too far from the bathroom

Commercial beer would be fine. It will just taste off.

its not poisoning its just the sediment at the bottom of the barrel it happens to every keg all its give you is a case of the shits . and the headache may be caused by any extra beer drunk that day
