Does rum cake have to be refrigerated?!

Question: My mom's friend made a rum cake for our family christmas party and its not for about 6 hours and she forgot to ask if it needs refrigeration.

Nope. My mom makes it and glazes it for days before she serves it and she doesn't refrigerate it. None of us are dead from it, so it must be OK :-)
