Sweet Wine?!

Question: Do you guys have any suggestions for any good, sweet wines. I don't care if its white, red, or blush. I love white ziffandel by Berringer (great stuff) but I want to try some others. I've got to a point where I like to cook a lot for my sweetheart... I'm a beer/white liquor-drinker myself, but the Doc says she can only have wine because she's expecting. Can you guys help?

Great question. First off, if you are looking for sweet, no wine is sweeter than Port. Port wine is fortified with Brandy so that it taste like it is packed with sugar, but in a good way. Also, it is slightly higher in alcohol content, making it a good choice to only drink small amounts in (for your gf/wife, no judgment, just saying).

Although most Port enthusiasts say that good port only comes from Portugal, my favorite bottle is Australian Muscat by R.L. Buller & Son (not that there are many Australian Muscats). It basically tastes like sweet raisins, roasted on a grill. You can get it for sure at World Market, or most wine specialty stores. If you HAVE to get one from Portugal, then my second pick is Ramos Pinto, a red.

If you want to stick with traditional red/white wines. I would go with a Hess Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon, it is the most deliciously sweet red I've ever had in my life. Usually I enjoy cabs because they are extremely tannic and bitter (which is why most people hate them), but Hess from Allomi vineyards, is so abnormally sweet for a cab, it actually tastes like they fortified it with sugar. It is from Napa in case you are having a hard time finding it. You can order it from their offical website or find it in most wine stores.

If you are looking for a white wine, then I agree with the girl above me. Chateau St. Michelle is my favorite white, and I think it is most wine enthusiast's favorite cheap white. I do not like white wines at all, but if forced to drink one, I would only drink Riesling, and my CSM is the best common Riesling in my opinion. It is only around $8.00 a bottle and taste like it costs much more.

(btw, the "popular blue bottle" that Ms. KKS recommended is most likely Blue Nun. It is pretty decent, but IMO, it is too bland and I think most people just buy it because it is cheap. Worth trying out though.)

Hope that helps a bit. If you need more specific advice, please feel free to e-mail me :)

Good luck!

WTF? No wine, no alcohol if she's pregnant. Why even go there?

Try Tej Honey Wine... Its not easy to find.. its a very unique wine made in Ethiopia...

Here is a sample - http://www.bluenilemi.com/tej_honey_wine...

NOTE: pregnant women should not have ANY type of alcohol for your baby's sake

Apple Juice.....

Try Riesling. It's delicious. Chateau St. Michelle is my favorite brand although I know there is a Riesling in a bright blue bottle that is also popular.
