Does the no smoking in bars laws encourage date rape?!

Question:

Does the no smoking in bars laws encourage date rape?

seriously people dont go to bars for their health. and now that you have to walk outside to smoke at them alot of places will not let you take your drink with you and have you leave it on the bar to hold your seat or put it on a table inside or something. this pretty much screams " SOMEBODY SLIP ME A ROOFIE!!!!" to these date rapists. also there are alot more fights due to the fact that one guy will get mad at another for something then a few minutes later the guy walks outside for a smoke and gets jumped. why dont they just make a designated smoking area inside. its kinda silly for someone to complain about second hand smoke while they are pickeling their liver with alcohol. restruants with no smoking is fine but bars!? c'mon, give it a frickin rest.

I agree, smoking bans in bars is a tragedy for the "free" world and civilication.
I hope this kind of fashism stop soon(as the alc. bans in the 30s) and it must.
Let it free, the bar owner must decide not the State

I AGREE WITH YOU BARS SHOULD BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR A LICENSE OR SOMETHING THAT LETS THEM HAVE A HERMETICALLY SEALED ROOM FOR SMOKERS. I CANT SMOKE AT APPLEBEES BUT DRIVE BY ANY ONE OF THEIR RESTURANTS AND IT WILL BE PUMPING TONS OF SMOKE UP INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. ONCE AGAIN ITS ANOTHER CASE OF POLITICIANS AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS SCARING US INTO DOING WHAT BENEFITS THEM. IF I WANT TO SMOKE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO. QUIT TREATING US AS SECOND CLASS CITIZENS

GooD qUesTioN..the answer is really YES> iv had some creepy incounters while lighting it up outside a club/bar!!. I even try to avoid it alltogether..soo yeah.!

Ok, for starters, it's not about you! The bartender and wait staff have to put up with the second hand smoke endangering their health so...

No Smoking

Date rape? Well, maybe you should drink your drink and go outside, smoke, come back in and find a NEW table and drink again (if that's your bent). Then there isn't a 'date rape' problem.

As to standing outside (25 feet from the entrance) and smoking - guess it's your choice! Seems you have to decide just how you're going to live your life, within the laws or 'on the edge'. You choose!

Okay enough complaining. I have an easy solution. Stop going to bars. If you dont like the rules then stay home and do as you please in your own home. When you go to a bar you should already know you will be around a certain type of crowd. Date rape will not increase by no smoking in bars. Honestly, I dont see how one has to do with the other.

First of all, not one single person has ever been forced to patronize or work for an establishment that allows smoking.

If you do not want to breath second hand smoke, do not go to a place that allows smoking. There are plenty of establishments who's owners have made the choice to not allow smoking.

Furthermore, forcing people to exit the bar to light up exposes them to being abducted as well as the scenario about the date rape that you mentioned.

Seems that there could be a serious liability issue involved for the bar if one of these things occurred.
