Why are mojitos so popular?!
Why are mojitos so popular?
I don't drink, but I hear people talking about mojitos all the time. Why are they so popular?
Answers:
I don't know...they are a pain in the a#% to make, can't really be worth the trouble, what with muddling all that mint and junk.
this is an old Cuba drink ,, its good...
why its popular now....????
not hard to make , mint, rum, lime juice and sugar,,, top with carbonate water
1) They taste good.
2) Bacardi's advertising campaign.
If these people ever had to make one themselves, they would never ask a busy bartender to make on.
Mojitos are awesome, some sugar cane syrup, fresh mint leaves, rum and lime mulled together....just doesn't get better than that on a hot summer night!
Because Bacardi is promoting the heck out of them. I have bartended for over 12 years, and i will admit that since Bacardi has started their mojito campaign, request have soared. There are now several flavored variation mixers out these.
As bartender, they aren't that difficult, if your bar is stocked and prepared. Usually, most bars don't have mint which is a key ingrediant. Although some bars are now using a mojito mixer that has the mint already infused.
If you are having dinner at a restuarunt, the bar should be stocked with mint.
To make them at home, follow this simple and quick recipe.
place two mint sprigs, two lime wegdes and a packet of sugar into a tall cocktail or hurricane glass. Add 2 ounces of rum and muddle (lighly press all the ingrediants at the bottom of the glass). Fill the glass with ice and fill with lemon/lime soda.
For a Pineapple Mojito (my favorite), use a coconut rum and fill the glass with 1/2 lemon/lime soda and 1/2 pineapple juice.
Enjoy
because most people are trendy assholes who do what interest groups tell them
They're trendy right now like martinis were a few years ago, I tried one in Cozumel and got hooked a few years ago. Mojitos are great for summer. http://www.bacardimojito.com/home/defaul...
Well, I had a mojito a couple of months back because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. After my first sip, I had to ask myself the same question, "Why ARE mojitos so popular?" To me it had hardly any flavor.
I think I'll stay with a good single malt scotch as my drink of choice.
