Why do they throw away while shaking?!

Question: the champaigne bottle when celebrating a feat, achievement, bing bong, is it a huge bundle of fun, imperative, necessary to throw away the top residue (a lethal chemical composite) which if taken will destroy the remainder of the human spirit. :)????

lol good one

Because they're idiots who don't know how to treat a decent bottle of sparkling wine.

Because they brought a really lousy bottle and are worried someone might taste it.

Actually, it's because it isn't about the beverage to them. It is about the noise and mess. If it was about the wine, then they would hold the cork tightly while twisting the bottle. And they NEVER would have shaken it. Go get some 7-Up and do that crap!

When it comes to sporting events and boat christenings - it's just a ritual. Again, not for drinking.

Many years ago, someone famous did it and now the tradition lives on. Its only done because it looks "fun".
