Question:

I was at the local liqour store when i noticed a bottle that said barley wine, whats the difference between barley wine and normal wine?

Answers:
Barley wines are made by fermenting barley, yeast, water and hops. They range in flavors from fruity to very bitter hops. Range in alcohol from 8-15 abv. Can be cellered for extended periods of time. Because it is made by fermenting barley it is a beer.

Wines are made by fermenting fruit, usually grapes. The ingredients are water, fruit and yeast. Most are between 8 and 13 abv.

Barley of course!
You can make wine from Kentucky Blue grass.
You got some imagination make wine.
It has been done before.
Nothing new under the sun,....

The first guy is correct, I just wanted to add that barley wines are like very strong ales (beer), but because their alcohol content is so high, it can't be called 'beer'. I just wanted to make the point that a barley wine is actually a strong ale (in taste and alcohol), and not related to wine.

For example, Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot Ale is a barley wine~

BarleyWine is a full bodied English strong ale. It is very malty with a fairly good balance of hop bitterness. It is not really a wine at all. The name is a fairly recent developement, more of a marketing thing really. So in a nutshell: wine is fermented grapes (or other fruits) and barleywine is beer.
