Italian beers aren't bad, but it's really nothing great. The area is so influenced by wine that beer kinda looses the spotlight. I've heard some good news about some new microbreweries opening in Italy though. Hopefully soon Italy will be putting out high quality beer like some of it's European neighbors.

Personally, of those I tried I liked Forst the best.
I used to really like Peroni, but the beer seems very different when it changed to the Nastro Azzurro. I traveled to Italy several years ago and visited the Peroni brewery where we sampled Nastro Azzurro, it was explained to us that it was the less expensive Peroni beer that was produced for the masses( much like Bud, Coors and Miller) and the Peroni beer imported to the U.S was the higher quality brew.It simply does not seem to have the quality of the original brew.
