Is it good to drink absinthe?!

Question: Besides being extremely high in alcohol content for most brands there are no other ill effects from it. You don't see things... except for blurred vision when you've had several. Much like most deeply held beliefs this one is also an urban legend.

I guess the only real problem (for me at least) is that it tastes like a##.

PS. It is not illegal. There are restrictions, but it is not illegal. There are 2 or 3 brands that can be brewed and sold in the US. All others it is illegal to sell. It isn't illegal to buy, import, own or consume.

Be careful, absynthe is considered illegal in many countries and you can be prosecuted for smuggling it into your country.

Is it good Tasting? No
Is it good for you? No
Is it easy to find a good bottle? No
Is it a good time when you do? Yes

I enjoy drinking Absinthe occasionally, very occasionally. The main active ingredient is Thujone, created by wormwood which is used in the distilling process. Wormwood has also been a main ingredient in Rat Poison.
The standard dose per person in 2 -3 shots. Too little and there will be no desired effect. Too much and the alcohol will impair any of the psychoactive properties.
A good selection is "Le Fae Parisian Style" Absinthe is one of my favorites and always tends to have good results. When buying a bottle, make sure you can read the thujone count or thujone percentage on the side of the bottle. The higher the count the better.
To make a traditional cocktail, stack a slotted spoon atop a tall glass. Place one sugar cube on the spoon and pour one shot of absinthe over the top. Light the cube on fir and let it burn until it crumbles. Add 1-3 shots of cold filtered water to dose the flame and use the spoon to mix the drink. Serve and enjoy.
Only drink 2-3 cocktails in the first hour to enjoy the thujones psychoactive trip. It is usually a very mild experience like a buzz when you start drinking. You won't be seeing pink elephants, i promise.

Have fun

I've never drank it. I've heard it's illegal due to the ingredients and that you hallucinate because of them. I can't imagine how that would be good for your system.

if you buy it in the states its just alcohol, no visuals........ if you buy the real stuff from europe containing wormwood which is similar to thc, changes are the visuals will be slight,.... all in its not really bad for you just a hard drunk maybe you will cut your ear off like van gogh.........says the green fairy

It's just as "good" to drink absinthe as it is "good" to drink anything else...rum, whisky, whatever.
If you like the flavor of black liquorice or ouzo or Jaegermeister, then you'll likely enjoy the flavor of absinthe. You've obviously seen the video, so you have an idea of how its made, the myths behind it, and the actual truth. Since the production of that video, absinthe has been reintroduced to numerous countries, the US included. There are an increasing number of perfectly legal, perfectly legitimate (i.e. not "absinthe lite" as some claim) absinthes available on US shelves today. There are also some absinthe substitutes available, too (Herbsaint, Absente) but these neither claim to be absinthe nor should be considered absinthe (lite or otherwise).

It's safe to drink the stuff they call absinthe nowadays.
The original stuff was something else.
