What are the most drunk spirits in France?!

Question:

What are the most drunk spirits in France?

I heard scotch whisky, gin and vodka were actually drunk more than cognac in France and I was shocked...is it true?

Answers:
I don't know if scotch whiskey, gin, and vodka are drunk more than cognac in France, but I'm pretty sure that wine is a more popular alcoholic beverage choice than any hard liquor. France is known internationally for its vineyards and many French people drink wine on a dailly basis (not necessarily to get drunk, but for the health benefits of regular wine consumption). Wine is a particularly popular choice among older French citizens. The legal drinking age in France is 16 (although it is culturally acceptable for children to start drinking as early as age 12), and the younger generation prefers beer or pastis over wine.

Cognac and wine.

Yes, it is! I am French and I have not ever really drinked Cognac! You can't escape from wine around a good meal and you may try some homemade liquors after a big meal... But vodka is usually drunk at every party between young people with other spirits (gin ,beleze, whisky,rhum...it depends ). However, the most drunk spirit will stay the Pastis 51 in the south of France.
Notice that there are less and less people who drink a lot because of the application of the law of Sarkosy: 0,5g maximum alcohol/liter of blood when you drive, no more!
