What is a good wine?!
What is a good wine?
Answers:
Depends on the type of wine you like. I like semi sweet dessert type wines, such as Japanese Plum Wine. There are really good white and pink zinfandels if you dont want to have a hangover in the morning and you like a lot of flavor. To me, red wines are too strong and cause bad indigestion and awful hangovers, but some people love them. It's really just a matter of personal choice, but if you are a newbie to wines, I recommend Sutter Home White Zinfandel.
yellow tail shiraz
Kendall Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon or Sauvignon Blanc
Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc
Santa Margarhita Pinot Grigio
I prefer Australian wines and for white wine I buy the Yellow Tail Reserve Pinot Grigio. Red wine, I prefer Shiraz, but also like Pinot Nior- I usually experiment with different Australian varieties of these red wines.
Any German Riesling if you like white
Yellowtail Merlot or Shiraz if you like red
the kind you found buried somewhere from the B.C.s

"Easy Nights" is a good whine w/ a real fruit taste and mild
aroma. Hulio Gallo is another one that is middle class, but has a top of the class flavor and aroma.
This depends entirely on your pallet. Are you someone who enjoys light bodied, sweeter wines? Light bodied, Dry wines? Do you like whites over reds or vice versa? Will you be enjoying just the glass of wine or will you be eating as well?
Silverbirch Sauvignon Blanc is a very nice white. It's a light to medium bodied, dry wine with a very heady nose. It has a crisp flavor with a ton of citrus through the finish
For something a little more robust but still fruity, you could try French Press Pinot Noir. A lot of Pinot Noirs tend to have a very fruit forward flavor with a very Plumy finish. This particular Pinot Noir is a little heavier than most, and has none of that plum characteristic in it.
If you like something a little bigger, and a little dryer you could try some Sebeka Cabernet Pinotage. This is a wine that has been flying off the shelves at my restaurant. It's a nice big wine, with a complex layering of flavors. It has a really neat coffee finish to it and is one of the best wines out of S. Africa that I've had the pleasure of tasting.
Hope that helps .
If you're buying in volume and want something good, that new Black Box that is out, the Pinot Grigio is really nice. I'm not sure what brand it is, but I had it with my snotty neighbors and they thought it was wonderful. It costs about 20 dollars but the box says it's like four bottles in there .. so five dollars for a good bottle of wine is a great bargain!
