I can't afford champagne for New Years Eve. Is there a good sparkling wine that will do?!
Answers: Asti (Italian) and Cava (Spanish) can both be wonderful -- but if you want a flavour really close to Champagne, Blanquette de Limoux is the one to go for. The wine-buyer who first let me in on this one told me it was the first sparkling wine in the world and is a wonderful wine. You can buy it in big supermarkets in the UK for around a fiver, and it's certainly worth picking up if you go to France (around 5 euros).
Try Cava
Try Bucks Fizz?
cava the spanish version is just as nice if not better have a good one
this is a nice sparkly rose wine

ya; in the words of Fred G. Sanford; Ripple.
I am not a liquor conosure, but I would just ask a clerk at your local liquor store they should be able to help you find something cheep yet good. And I am sure you can find a cheap bottle of champagne for the same price of sparkling wine.
I went with a friend last year to get champagne for a party and he asked the clerk, "What is your second least expensive champange?"
cheap Chardonnay or saviongon blanc
sorry for the typo
Then you can't beat a bottle of Asti Spumante.....nively sparlking, not too dry, or too sweet, and reasonably priced too!! Other than that, go for a Cava.....just as good as champane at a fraction of the price.
Happy New Year!!
Yes, the spanish sparkling wines are very nice
Frexinet (the black bottle) is nice and a bargain at $8
Cordoniu is another good and inexpensive bottle
Chateau St. Michelle is a good US (Washington) sparkling wine.
All of the above are very readily available at most liquor stores
Happy New Year
get lambrusco it comes in red and white and is just as good!! tesco etc stock it
morrisons have been selling champagne cheap
yer get on the bucks fizz
Yes,Cava , they were talking about it on GM T V this morning, it cost's about £5 or £6 a bottle, and not many people could tell the difference, from any good Supermarket.
Good Luck, and a Happy New Year
Cook's Chamagne is about $5. a bottle. It ain't bad.
Champagne is called champagne because it comes from the champagne area of France.
Cava is every bit as good as champagne for a fraction of the cost.
Champers is only a tenner in morrisons at the minute. Cava is your best bet. Add some Casiss (blackcurrant liqueur) to cover your tracks. Casiss is about £3.
Prosecco would be great - It's probably what we will be serving. It's a sweet Italian spakling white wine, and can be found for under $5 a bottle at places like Trader Joe's (If you have one). As others have said, Cava or a Cava Rose would be excellent choices as well.
Yes, its called Lambrusco LOL
Martini & Rossi (Asti)... very good and is about $10-$12 a bottle.
Asti Spumante. Cold.
