What is a good, but simple, mixed drink I can make at home?
Preferably in the rum or vodka varieties.

vodka and orange juice:) it's easy and affordable. tastes good when it's real orange juice, not that gross mix they use at some bars

white russian. 1 pt kuhluah, 1 pt vodka, the rest vitmain d milk or cream. plus ice
Meyers Dark Rum and tonic. It's a rich-tasting decadent drink that is simple, but sophisticated. Doesn't have to be Meyers, but does have to be a quality dark rum.
Jager and red bull on ice equal amounts of each
TGIF Pina Colda mix. Put the mix in the blender with ice to make it ICEE like and then add your Vodka to taste!

Vodka and hawaiian punch is delicious. Cherry coke and rum.

Vodka: Screwdriver (oj and vodka), gatorader (gatorade), vodka tonic (tonic water and vodka)
Rum: Rum and Coke, Frozen daquris (get mix from store)
Equal parts unsweeted iced tea, lemonade, and peach vodka mixed over ice. I call it a Fuzzy Palmer.... fantastic and easy summer drink.
Brandy Slush
9 cups water
2 cups brandy
1 can (12oz) frozen lemonade, thawed
1 can (12oz) frozen orange juice, thawed
Combine all ingredients in a 4 quart freezer container.
Cover and freeze overnite, mixture will remain slushy.
Spoon into individual glasses.
Serve with a spoon cause you wont be able to wait to drink this one!
I like to make a malibu bay breeze in the summer time... it consist of 1 part malibu rub, 1 part pineapple juice, and 1 part cranberry juice.. if you want to make the drink less potent then make it with 1 more part juice(1/2 cranberry and 1/2 pineapple).

* 1 fluid ounce Malibu rum
* 1 fluid ounce banana liqueur
* 1/2 cup pineapple juice
* ice cubes
* 1 tablespoon grenadine
DIRECTIONS
1. Measure the rum, banana liqueur and pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker. Add a generous scoop of ice. Cover and shake until the outside is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into a glass filled with ice and gently pour the grenadine on top. It should float.

* 1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed
* 12 fluid ounces water
* 12 fluid ounces vodka
* 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
DIRECTIONS
1. Place lemonade concentrate in a gallon pitcher. Measure water and vodka in the 12 ounce lemonade can and add to the pitcher. Pour in the beer, mix well and serve over ice.

1 part Malibu rum
